Team Spirit and Team Liquid became the first two teams to advance out of the group stage at Dota PGL Wallachia Season 3 by notching their third straight wins Monday in Bucharest, Romania.

In the Round 3 matches pitting 2-0 teams, Team Spirit swept Team Falcons 2-0 and Team Liquid did the same to Tundra Esports.

The $1 million Defense of the Ancients tournament began Saturday and runs through March 16. Using the modified Swiss system of play, the group stage consists of five rounds before the top eight teams advance to the playoffs.

All group stage matches are best-of-three and the playoffs are double elimination. All playoff matches are best-of-three except for the grand final, which is best-of-five.

On Monday, Spirit defeated Falcons in 33 minutes on green and 51 minutes on green. Denis “Larl” Sigitov of Russia tallied 17 kills, just five deaths and 23 assists in the two maps for Spirit.

Liquid toppled Tundra in 45 minutes on red and 38 minutes on green. Liquid got a whopping 30 kills with six deaths and 17 assists from Michael “miCKe” Vu of Sweden.

There were four more 2-0 sweeps in the matches between 1-1 teams: Xtreme Gaming over Nigma Galaxy, Aurora Gaming over HEROIC, Gaimin Gladiators over AVULUS and Team Tidebound over Wildcard.

Finally, two 0-2 matches in Round 3 resulted in the first two eliminated teams of the tournament. Natus Vincere ousted Mosquito Clan 2-0 and, in the day’s only 2-1 result, Yellow Submarine survived against OG.
