Team Falcons wins Rocket League Raleigh Major

Team Falcons clinched the Rocket League Championship Series Raleigh Major title with a 4-1 win over Dignitas in Sunday’s grand final in Raleigh, N.C.

Saudi teenager Yazeed Abdullah “Kiileerrz” Bakhashwin took home tournament MVP honors for Team Falcons, which dropped the opening round before rattling off four straight wins to defeat Dignitas.

Falcons will take home $102,000 of the $351,000 prize pool along with 36 RLCS ranking points. Dignitas settled for $51,000 and 24 points as a consolation prize.

Dignitas notched a 4-2 win on Mannfield (Night) to begin the grand final, but Falcons tied the final with a 3-1 victory on Forbidden Temple.

Two of Falcons’ final three wins came in overtime. They scored 3:44 into overtime on DFH Stadium for a 2-1 victory. After posting a 2-0 shutout on Utopia Coliseum (Dusk), they clinched the title with a goal 1:48 into overtime of a 4-3 victory at AquaDome (Salty Shallows).

Team Falcons continued a run that began with a 4-0 victory against the same Dignitas team Saturday in the upper-bracket quarterfinals.

They defeated NRG 4-2 in one of Sunday’s semifinal matches, breaking a 2-2 tie in the match by winning in overtime at AquaDome (Salty Shallows) followed by a 1-0 clincher on Neo Tokyo.

Dignitas played three matches Sunday, scoring a 4-0 shutout of Team Secret in the lower-bracket quarters and a 4-1 triumph over Team Vitality in the semis. NRG had reached the semifinals with a 4-3 win over Twisted Minds in the lower-bracket quarters.
