Team Liquid blanked Shopify Rebellion 3-0 in the lower-bracket quarterfinals of the LCS Spring playoffs on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Just four teams remain standing in the competition. Team Liquid advanced to face FlyQuest in the lower-bracket semifinal on June 7, while Cloud9 and LYON are sitting more comfortably in the upper-bracket final after their matching five-map wins earlier this week.
Eight teams competed in the best-of-three matches in the round-robin regular season, with the top six advancing to the playoffs of the League of Legends event. The double-elimination playoffs are all best-of-five matches in a double-elimination format.
The top two teams will qualify for this summer’s Mid-Season Invitational in Daejeon, South Korea, while the winner also gets a trip to the Esports World Cup in Paris in July.
Team Liquid defeated Shopify Rebellion in 33 minutes on red, 36 minutes on blue and 25 minutes on blue in Sunday’s match.
Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung of South Korea earned MVP honors on the latter two maps for Liquid. He finished the match with a sterling 21-0-13 kills-deaths-assists ratio.
No player finished with more than four kills for Shopify Rebellion, which tied with Sentinels for fifth and sixth place. FlyQuest blanked Sentinels 3-0 on Saturday in the other lower-bracket quarterfinal match.
The tournament continues Saturday when Cloud9 and LYON meet in the upper-bracket final showdown. The loser will move into the lower-bracket final on June 13. The grand final is June 14.
