Team Spirit advances to grand final of ESL One Raleigh

Boone County Rocket League

Team Spirit rallied to defeat Tundra Esports 2-1 on Saturday in the upper-bracket final and advance to the grand final at the Dota 2 ESL One Raleigh event.

In Sunday’s grand final, Team Spirit awaits the winner of the lower-bracket final featuring PARIVISION against Tundra Esports. PARIVISION came from behind to advance, beating BetBoom Team 2-1 in the lower-bracket final on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, BetBoom Team swept Team Falcons 2-0 to reach the lower-bracket final.

The $1 million tournament in North Carolina — the first ESL One event played in the United States since 2015 — runs through Sunday. It is the fourth of five events that make up the ESL Pro Tour. DreamLeague Season 26 will be held in Europe from May 19-June 1.

In Raleigh, the 12 teams were split into two six-team groups for three days of round-robin play. Group-play matches were two games apiece, with ties possible. The top two teams from each group advanced to the upper bracket of the playoffs, the third- and fourth-place teams headed to the lower bracket and the fifth- and sixth-place teams were eliminated.

The winner of the Sunday final will take home $250,000 in prize money, $40,000 in club money and a share of the 27,920 ESL Pro Tour points available in the tournament. The second-place squad will receive $130,000 and $35,000 plus EPT points.

On Saturday, Tundra Esports opened with a 45-minute triumph on red, but Team Spirit rebounded with a 43-minute win on green and a 38-minute victory on red to reach the grand final.

Russia’s Denis “Larl” Sigitov logged an average 8.3/2.0/12.7 kill-death-assist ratio for Team Spirit. Remco “Crystallis” Arets of the Netherlands paced Tundra Esports with an average K-D-A ratio of 8.3/4.3/8.7.

BetBoom Team grabbed the lead with a 55-minute victory on green, but PARIVISION secured the lower-bracket final with back-to-back wins on green (74 minutes, 28 minutes).

For PARIVISION, Russia’s Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov led the way with an average 10.6/3.7/4 kill-death-assist ratio. Russia’s Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko registered a 6.6/3.3/5.7 K-D-A ratio for BetBoom Team.

To reach the lower-bracket final BetBoom Team posted back-to-back wins on green (34 minutes, 38 minutes) to eliminate Team Falcons.

Moskalenko again paced BetBoom Team with a 9.5/0.5/7 K-D-A ratio, while Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen of Denmark led Team Falcons with a K-D-A ratio of 3.5/4.5/5.5.
