The only two teams to finish group play unbeaten are the last teams remaining in the upper bracket at the Dota 2 PGL Wallachia Season 6 in Bucharest, Romania.
Team Spirit and Team Liquid each won their upper-bracket semifinal matches on Friday, both needing three games to set up a Saturday showdown.
The $1 million event awards $300,000 to the winner, with the runner-up getting $175,000 and the third-place squad pocketing $120,000. The double-elimination playoffs run through Sunday. All matches are best-of-3 save the championship, which is best-of-5.
On Friday, Spirit started with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over PARIVISION. Team Spirit dropped the first map in 25 minutes while on red before winning the next two in 45 minutes on green and in 51 minutes on red. Ukrainian Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk posted 11 kills for Spirt on the second map before Russia’s Denis “Larl” Sigitov did the same in the third map. Yatoro finished the match with a 18-7-21 kill-death-assist ratio on the day.
In the second upper-bracket semi, Liquid took the first map in 65 minutes while playing on green before OG took the next map in 43 minutes while also playing on green. Green was the winner in the deciding map, too, with Liquid prevailing in 36 minutes. Thanks to a 16-kill first map, Poland’s Michal “Nisha” Jankowski paced the winners with a 23-12-37 K-D-A ratio.
In the lower bracket, MOUZ swept HEROIC 2-0 and BetBoom Team beat Tundra Esports 2-1 to stay alive in the tournament.
MOUZ won in 32 and 42 minutes, the first win coming on red and the second on green. BetBoom, playing the entire way on green, pulled off a reverse sweep to take down Tundra, dropping the first map in 35 minutes before winning in 34 and 40 minutes.
