Team Yandex swept Team Liquid 2-0 on Friday, charging into the upper-bracket final of PGL Wallachia Season 7 at Bucharest, Romania.
BetBoom Team won the other upper-bracket semifinal, edging Team Spirit 2-1.
Yandex and BetBoom will square off on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the grand final on Sunday.
Lower-bracket action in the double-elimination playoffs began on Friday, too. Tundra Esports came from behind to nip Aurora Gaming 2-1, and HEROIC squeezed past Vici Gaming 2-1.
In the lower-bracket quarterfinals on Saturday, HEROIC will face off with Team Liquid, and Tundra Esports will clash with Team Spirit.
The $1 million Dota 2 tournament began last weekend with 16 teams. Eight teams advanced from the 16-team group stage, which concluded Wednesday. All matches are best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final, with the winning team taking home $300,000.
On Friday, Yandex toppled Liquid twice on green, in 35 minutes and 47 minutes.
Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov registered a 17-4-22 kill-death-assist ratio for Yandex. Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu wound up at 9-11-10.
BetBoom opened with a 39-minute victory on green before Spirit equalized in 32 minutes on red. BetBoom took the decisive third map in 40 minutes on green.
Russia’s Danil “gpk” Skutin paced BetBoom at 20-7-38. Another Russian, Denis “Larl” Sigitov, finished at 20-14-20 for Spirit.
After Aurora jumped on top in 43 minutes on red, Tundra recovered to prevail in 43 minutes and 33 minutes, both on red.
Bulgaria’s Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov produced a 25-15-38 K-D-A ratio for Tundra. Indonesia’s Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman posted a 16-9-30 K-D-A ratio for Aurora.
HEROIC sandwiched two wins on red, in 31 minutes and 46 minutes, around Vici Gaming’s 47-minute victory on green.
Bolivia’s Adrian “Wisper” Dobles compiled a 27-7-41 K-D-A ratio for HEROIC. Guo “Xm” Hongcheng recorded a 9-11-21 K-D-A ratio for all-Chinese Vici Gaming.
