One day before Holy Cross was scheduled to host a first-round Patriot League tournament game, the Crusaders’ season is over.
The program was forced to pause all activities due to COVID-19, including participation in the conference tournament. The team will not return to action this season, the school said Tuesday.
“With this unfortunate news, we are disappointed that our season has been cut short,” said head coach Brett Nelson. “I am extremely proud of and grateful for our players, staff and everyone associated with our program. Our team has grown tremendously this season in many ways. The future of Holy Cross basketball is very bright, and we have laid a great foundation moving forward.”
Holy Cross said the positive test carried a Tier 1 designation. This applies to individuals for whom physical distancing and/or face coverings are not possible or effective during athletic training or competition, including student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and physical therapists, medical staff, equipment staff and officials.
