Malik Reneau scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to keep host Miami unbeaten following a 102-61 victory over Stetson on Monday night in Coral Gables, Fla.

Reneau shot 9 for 15 from the field and highlighted a stellar shooting night for the Hurricanes (3-0), who shot 56.7% (38 for 67) overall.

Miami won its third consecutive game against an opponent from the state of Florida to open the season while denying the Hatters (1-2) the chance at back-to-back victories. The Hurricanes also eclipsed the 100-point scoring mark in back-to-back games for the first time since 1989.

Stetson appeared primed to make a push for an upset early in the game as it scored the first six points and led the Hurricanes 17-11 with 10:44 left in the first half.

Reneau sparked Miami’s comeback and ignited a 15-0 run that put the Hurricanes ahead for good. Reneau’s 3-pointer with 8:44 to go before halftime gave Miami its first lead at 23-20.

Tre Donaldson did not start for the Hurricanes due to a minor injury, but entered the game with 16:25 left in the first half. He finished with 15 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in 25 minutes.

Tru Washington had 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting and six rebounds while Shelton Henderson scored 15. Timotej Malovec started for Donaldson and eventually finished with 12 points.

Ethan Copeland finished with 12 points and J.R. Leonard had 11 points to lead the Hatters, who shot 7 of 17 from 3-point range in the first half. But Stetson lost that accuracy in the second half, going 1 for 12 from 3, which helped Miami use an 18-4 surge to pull away.

The Hurricanes made 8 of 23 shots from 3-point range, and dominated in the paint outscoring Stetson, 56-20.

Matar Diop had eight points while Jamie Phillips Jr. and Janusz Ratowski each had seven points for the Hatters.
