Sebastian Aho’s goal with 31 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night in Raleigh, N.C.

Andrei Svechnikov scored two first-period goals and later added an assist and Taylor Hall also found the net for the Hurricanes, who won for the fifth time in their last six games. Shayne Gostisbehere provided three assists, including on the game winner, while Pyotr Kochetkov made 14 saves.

Max Sasson, Elias Pettersson and Conor Garland scored for the Canucks. Kevin Lankinen made 34 saves, including three in overtime before Aho’s seventh goal of the season and 17th career overtime game-winner.

The Hurricanes lost team scoring leader Seth Jarvis in the first period with an upper-body injury and he didn’t return. He absorbed a hit from a teammate’s stick, apparently in the face.

The Canucks, coming off a 1-2-1 homestand, were playing the first of three road games in a four-night span.

Hall, on his 34th birthday, pulled the Hurricanes even at 3-3 6:26 into the third period with his fourth goal this season.

There were four goals scored — and a 2-2 tie — before 10 minutes had elapsed.

Sasson started the scoring just 2:45 into the game, before Svechnikov struck twice in a span of 54 seconds, including a power play strike to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead.

Vancouver tied the score as Pettersson tallied short-handed after a Hurricane defenseman Sean Walker’s giveaway.

Garland’s power-play goal 3:13 into the second period gave the Canucks a 3-2 edge.

The Hurricanes outshot Vancouver 34-16 through regulation, including an 18-8 edge in the second period.
