LIV Golf began its run of offseason signings with the addition of Victor Perez on Tuesday.
Perez will join Cleeks GC, which finished 12th out of 13 in the team standings last season. He replaces Frederik Kjettrup on the team, joining Martin Kaymer, Richard Bland and Adrian Meronk.
Perez, 33, was set to wrap up the PGA Tour season in this week’s RSM Classic event in Sea Island, Ga. However, he’s been removed from the online listing of the field after the announcement.
The Frenchman is wrapping up his second full season on the PGA Tour after earning a tour card for a seventh-place finish in the DP World Tour standings in 2023.
With just one top-10 in 25 PGA events this season, he ranked 108th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings entering this week’s final event and was going to need a top-five finish to surge into the top 100 and retain his PGA Tour card.
Along with Kjettrup, Henrik Stenson (Majesticks GC), Andy Ogletree (HyFlyers GC), Mito Pereira (Torque GC) and Yubin Jang (Iron Heads GC) were the full-time LIV competitors relegated from the league this season for finishing 49th or worse in the individual standings.
That paves the way for four more spots to be filled by signings ahead of LIV’s fifth season beginning in February at LIV Golf Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
