Jaren Jackson Jr., Grizzlies extend Clippers’ home misery

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored a season-high 31 points, Cam Spencer added a career-high 27 points and the Memphis Grizzlies finished off a 121-103 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday at Inglewood, Calif.

Jaylen Wells added 16 points for the Grizzlies, who opened a 90-76 lead through three quarters and cruised to their third victory over the Clippers since Nov. 28.

Memphis star Ja Morant was held to 12 points over 21 minutes in his second game since returning from a calf injury. Morant shot 4 of 12 from the floor and played just 21 minutes as the team restricts his action.

Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points and Kris Dunn added 17 for the Clippers, who lost their eighth consecutive home game.

James Harden was held to 13 points as Los Angeles fell to 3-12 over a stretch in which it has played 12 of the 15 games on the road. John Collins and Jordan Miller each scored 10 points, while Ivica Zubac had 13 rebounds with a season-low six points.

Memphis closed out the third quarter on an 18-8 run to take a 14-point lead into the final period and poured it on from there. Spencer hit four 3-pointers in a span of less than three minutes, giving the Grizzlies a 106-86 lead with 6:39 remaining.

Spencer went 9 of 13 from the floor of the bench and 7 of 10 from 3-point range. His seven made 3-pointers also were a career high.

The Grizzlies shot 59.1% from the floor in the second quarter and had a 31-21 advantage to take a 56-48 lead into halftime. Jackson scored 14 points in the second quarter alone for Memphis. Leonard had 11 in the half for Los Angeles, which committed 12 turnovers over the first two quarters.

Overall on the night, Memphis shot 52.3% from the floor and went 16 of 39 (41.0%) from 3-point range. The Clippers shot 46.2% from the field while giving the ball away 19 times.
