Jayden Pierre hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 48 seconds to play to lift TCU to a 62-55 upset of No. 5 Iowa State in a Big 12 Conference clash on Tuesday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Micah Robinson and Tanner Toolson each scored 17 points to lead the Horned Frogs (15-9, 5-6 Big 12). Pierre added nine points as TCU won its second straight game.

Joshua Jefferson scored 12 points, pulled down eight rebounds and handed out nine assists for the Cyclones (21-3, 8-3). Tamin Lipsey also tallied 12 points and Milan Momcilovic added 11 for Iowa State, which had its five-game winning streak snapped.

After an Iowa State turnover, Pierre’s three gave the Horned Frogs a 57-55 lead. Lipsey’s turnover on the ensuing possession led to a Robinson dunk, and TCU led 59-55 with 28 seconds left.

On the next Iowa State possession, Lipsey was fouled but missed the front end of a one-and-one. Toolson hit three foul shots down the stretch for the Horned Frogs to seal the win.

TCU scored 19 points off 17 Iowa State Turnovers. The Cyclones forced 15 TCU turnovers. Iowa State held a 38-28 advantage on points in the paint.

Killyan Toure gathered Lipsey’s half-court bounce pass for a fastbreak layup, and moments later Iowa State took its biggest lead of the first half at 28-19 on a Dominykas Pleta two-hand dunk.

But the Horned Frogs rallied with a 10-0 run that featured threes from Robinson and Toolson as TCU took its first lead since 2-0 at 29-28.

As the first half drew to a close, Jefferson’s driving layup gave Iowa State a 30-29 halftime lead. Later, Toolson ripped off the first six points in a 10-0 run and TCU led 49-41.

After a scoring drought that lasted nearly four minutes, Momcilovic and Jefferson hit consecutive threes and ignited a 10-0 run as the Cyclones took a 51-49 lead on a Lipsey layup with 4:59 remaining.

Iowa State led 55-50 with under two and a half minutes to go, but TCU closed the game with a 12-0 run to earn the win.
