SMU looks to end its trip out West on a high note when it visits Stanford for a Saturday afternoon Atlantic Coast Conference battle.

This is the first meeting of the season between the ACC rivals. They split the season series in 2025, with each team winning on their home court. In the most recent game, Stanford scored 45 points in the first half and won 73-68. SMU won the previous matchup 85-61 last season.

The Mustangs (19-9, 8-7 ACC) won four of five games before their two-game trip to the Golden State, but faltered Wednesday with a 73-69 loss to Cal. SMU led 67-64 with under two minutes remaining, but Justin Pippen and the Golden Bears came back for the win.

Corey Washington scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, shooting 50% from deep. Boopie Miller contributed 15 points and a team-high four assists in the loss.

SMU outshot Cal from the field and from beyond the arc, but shot just 42.3% from the charity stripe.

“We beat ourselves tonight, missed 15 free throws,” SMU head coach Andy Enfield said.

Meanwhile, the Cardinal (17-11, 6-9) ended a two-game skid their last time out. After falling 68-63 to Wake Forest and 72-66 to Cal on the road, Stanford returned home to defeat Pitt 75-67.

Stanford was 10 of 10 from the free-throw line and only turned the ball over nine times in the victory. Ebuka Okorie led the way with 34 points, six rebounds and six assists, while shooting 3-for-6 from 3-point range and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Benny Gealer added 12 points, and AJ Rohosy had a team-leading eight rebounds.

“That was a great win for our program,” Stanford head coach Kyle Smith said. “That’s just a testament to this league. That a team like (ours) that has struggled to get wins, that had a little tough stretch… (Pitt) went up seven in the second half, and (we) just couldn’t put them away. We finally got some stops, and then Ebuka really took over the game. It’s nice to have a guy like that. But, great win for us.”
