Maurice Odum made five 3-pointers and recorded 23 points and six assists to lead Arizona State to a 70-60 victory over No. 14 Kansas on Tuesday night in Big 12 play at Tempe, Ariz.

Massamba Diop added 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for the Sun Devils (16-14, 7-10 Big 12), who never trailed while improving to 5-0 at home all-time against Kansas. Arizona State led by as many as 20 points while winning for the fourth time in the past six games.

Tre White had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Jayhawks (21-9, 11-6), who lost for the fourth time in the past six games.

Darryn Peterson added 15 points, 10 rebounds and five steals but made just 3 of 18 field-goal attempts. Flory Bidunga had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Kansas, which connected on just 29.2% of its shots and was 7 of 27 from behind the arc.

Jayhawks coach Bill Self was ejected with 6:07 left in the first half after vociferously disputing a call.

Kansas assistant coach Jacque Vaughn, a former NBA coach, ran the club after Self’s ejection.

Arizona State shot just 32.2% from the field, including 8 of 25 from 3-point range.

After Odum hit a trey for Arizona State, the Jayhawks scored five straight points to creep within 57-55 with 4:04 left.

Anthony “Pig” Johnson scored five straight points and Diop delivered two big dunks to make it 66-55 lead with 1:03 remaining. Noah Meeusen added two free throws with 48.2 seconds left to make it a 13-point margin as the Sun Devils closed it out.

The Jayhawks used a 17-1 burst early in the second to move within 43-39. Peterson made two 3-pointers in the span of 35 seconds to cap the run with 14:23 remaining.

Odum scored five straight points three-plus minutes later as the Sun Devils led 54-42 with 11:11 left to play.

Odum had 15 first-half points as Arizona State led 40-20 at the break.

Peterson missed all seven of his first-half field-goal attempts and had two points in the half. The Jayhawks shot just 21.1% (8 of 38).

The Sun Devils were leading the Jayhawks 23-16 when Bryce Ford was hounding Peterson and the Kansas freshman tried to fight through it.

Peterson was called for an offensive foul and Self erupted. He immediately received the first technical and got the second just seconds later.

Odum made three of the four technical shots to start a half-ending 17-4 run. Odum scored nine straight Arizona State points late in the half to help the margin reach 20.
