Brayan Ceballos recorded a first-half brace and Luca Langoni had three assists as the New England Revolution won their home opener for the first time in three years with a record-breaking 6-1 triumph over FC Cincinnati on Sunday in Foxborough, Mass.

Dor Turgeman, Alhassan Yusuf, Griffin Yow, and Peyton Miller also scored for New England (1-2-0, 3 points). Matt Turner made seven saves.

The six goals are the most scored by the Revolution, an original MLS side in its 30th season of play.

New England scored each of its first four goals via headers, thanks primarily to Langoni, who assisted on all three of the team’s first-half tallies.

Gerardo Valenzuela scored for Cincinnati (1-3-0, 3 points), which has lost three straight since a 2-0 victory over Atlanta United on opening weekend. The Blue and Orange have scored just once in their last three league contests.

Valenzuela’s 19th-minute tally gave Cincinnati the early advantage. Evander, in the starting lineup for the first time since getting injured against Atlanta, sent the ball to Valenzuela off a quick restart, and the 21-year-old American midfielder did the rest, dribbling into the box and creating enough space to finish in the low right corner.

It took only six minutes for New England to launch its offensive onslaught. Ceballos scored his first goal in the 25th minute off a free-kick cross from Langoni.

Turgeman put the Revs in front six minutes later, beating Cincinnati defender Miles Robinson to a Langoni cross and heading it past goalkeeper Roman Celentano.

Ceballos doubled the Revolution’s advantage in the third minute of stoppage time as he elevated to head in Langoni’s corner kick cross.

Yusuf kept the party going early in the second half. In the 53rd minute, veteran Carles Gil’s shot deflected off Celentano (three saves) right to Yusuf, who finished into an open net.

A couple of substitutes completed the record day for the Revolution. Griffin Yow came on in the 73rd minute and scored 14 minutes later in his Gillette Stadium debut.

Peyton Miller, who came on in the 86th minute, added the record-breaking goal a minute later.

The biggest hand from the crowd may have come when New England legend Diego Fagundez, who rejoined the club from the LA Galaxy, entered the game in the 88th minute. Fagundez, who scored as a 16-year-old for the Revs, won the 2024 MLS title with the Galaxy.
