NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Daniel Dye for making insensitive comments during a recent livestream.

Dye, 22, mocked IndyCar Series driver David Malukas, mimicking the latter’s voice and making implications about his sexuality.

Dye, who drives the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Ram in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, was penalized Tuesday for violating Section 4.3.C of the rulebook: “NASCAR Members shall not make … a public statement or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.”

NASCAR ordered Dye to complete sensitivity training before he is permitted to return to competition.

Kaulig Racing also suspended Dye effective immediately “after becoming aware (Tuesday) of comments he made on social media.”

Dye posted an apology on social media Tuesday night. “I didn’t think enough before I spoke, and I in no way meant any harm,” he said, in part. “I know that intention does not erase impact and I need to do better.”

Dye’s best finish through three Truck Series races this season was 13th at Atlanta on Feb. 21. The Florida native also has made three starts in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series this season for AM Racing.

Malukas, 24, has been driving in the IndyCar Series since 2022. He is in his first season with Team Penske.

This is the second time Dye has been suspended during his racing career. When he was 18 and racing in the ARCA series, he was suspended after being charged with felony battery after punching a fellow high school student in the groin area.
