Santiago Moreno brings ‘elusiveness’ for Dallas against St. Louis City

Six games into the 2026 MLS season, FC Dallas is clicking.

Dallas (3-1-2, 11 points) will face St. Louis City SC on Saturday night in Frisco, Texas, backed by one of the best scoring duos in the league — Petar Musa and Logan Farrington.

Musa, a Croatian international, is tied with Nashville SC’s Sam Surridge for the MLS lead in goals with seven. Musa has tallied 41 goals in 66 career matches for Dallas.

Farrington is just one off his season career high with four goals. Dallas is 3-0 this season when both players score, something that happened again last weekend in a 4-0 win over D.C. United.

Farrington had the opener in the 16th minute, and Musa completed the scoring in the first minute of extra time in the second half as Dallas posted its second clean sheet.

“We’ve added a couple pieces which make us better,” Farrington said.

He likely was referring to Colombian forward Santiago Moreno as one of the new pieces. His first appearance with Dallas came against D.C. United when he came on as an 85th-minute substitute.

Moreno nearly scored six minutes into his debut, and his attempt started the sequence that led to Musa’s goal.

“He’s just different with his elusiveness in the game,” Dallas coach Eric Quill told fcdallas.com. “He has really clean feet in tight spaces, the ability to make the first guy miss, and that’s an amazing trait to have as a number 10 because it unbalances the opponent.”

Moreno joined Dallas last month on transfer deadline day from Brazilian side Fluminense, but he is no stranger to MLS play. He had 20 goals and 31 assists with the Portland Timbers between 2021-25 — including four goals and five assists last season — in regular-season action.

His presence no doubt will add to an attack that’s tied for second in MLS with 14 goals.

Meanwhile, after gaining vital points in a win over New England and a late draw at New York City FC, St. Louis (1-3-2, 5 points) hopes it is starting to click, too.

Brendan McSorley’s 95th-minute header off a long ball from Lukas MacNaughton, salvaged a 1-1 draw in New York last weekend. Swiss international goalkeeper Roman Burki had six saves.

St. Louis coach Yoann Damet said he is pleased going into the match with Dallas, but with just five goals through six games — fewest in the Western Conference — he is not getting carried away.

“I think this is a very good moment to build on,” he said. “I don’t think it’s going to flip the season; I think it’s just part of the process.”
