Jake McCarthy hit a walk-off three-run triple in the ninth inning, giving the Colorado Rockies a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox in Denver on Monday.

Colorado was held down by Boston rookie Jake Bennett for six innings and squandered a potential rally in the eighth but came through against Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman (0-3) in the ninth.

TJ Rumfield and Hunter Goodman singled to left, and Cole Carrigg beat out a bunt to load the bases. McCarthy drove them all in with a liner inside the third base bag.

Victor Vodnik (2-2) pitched two hitless, scoreless innings of relief, and Tyler Freeman had three hits for the Rockies, who have won three of their past four games.

The rally wiped away a strong start by Bennett, who allowed just four hits, struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter. Willson Contreras and Caleb Durbin (2-for-3) had run-scoring hits in the sixth inning for the Red Sox, who took their sixth loss in eight games.

Colorado starter Ryan Feltner was shaky early but settled down to retire 13 consecutive batters before Wilyer Abreu reached on a two-out infield single in the sixth.

Contreras followed with an RBI double. Jarren Duran walked, and Durbin delivered a run-scoring single.

Feltner got Masataka Yoshida to line out to right field to end the frame.

Feltner (2-3) allowed two runs on four hits, struck out two and walked four in six innings.

Bennett more than matched Feltner through five innings. He retired the first seven Colorado batters before Karros singled in the third. Bennett got the next two, and he erased a leadoff single in the fourth with a double play.

The Rockies had runners on first and second with one out in the eighth against Garrett Whitlock, but baserunning mistakes cost them. Edouard Julien was thrown out at home by Ceddanne Rafaela on Willi Castro’s single to center. Freeman followed with a single to right, but Castro was cut down when he ran past second base.
