Garrett Mitchell’s two-run double capped a four-run rally and Shane Drohan pitched effectively for six innings to pace the Milwaukee Brewers to an 8-6 comeback victory over the visiting Miami Marlins on Saturday.

The Marlins, whose fifth straight loss matched their season high, closed the gap to 8-6 in the ninth inning thanks to Griffin Conine’s three-run homer, his seventh, off Craig Yoho. Trevor Megill got the final three outs for his 15th save in 17 opportunities.

Drohan (5-3) gave up three runs in the second, but none the rest of the way over his six innings, retiring the final nine hitters he faced and 13 of the last 14. Drohan allowed five hits, striking out a career-high nine and walking one in a 90-pitch outing.

Milwaukee, which trailed 3-0 early, scored four runs in the sixth to take the lead 6-3.

The Brewers loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth against Calvin Faucher (4-5), who came in to open the inning. Braden Shewmake doubled to start, and Joey Ortiz and Christian Yelich then walked. Jackson Chourio followed with a two-run single to put Milwaukee up 4-3. Mitchell’s two-out, two-run double, his third hit of the game, made it 6-3.

Yelich’s two-run double in the seventh extended the lead to 8-3.

The Brewers made it 3-1 in the second on Shewmake’s sacrifice fly and pulled within 3-2 in third on William Contreras’ RBI double.

The Marlins went in front 3-0 with three small-ball runs in the second.

Javier Sanoja doubled to start the inning and moved to third on Liam Hicks’ bunt single down the third-base line. Leo Jimenez then singled to left to bring in Sanoja, making it 1-0. Estuary Ruiz reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Hicks scored on Joe Mack’s fielder’s choice grounder, and Otto Lopez followed with a sacrifice fly to deep center.

Miami starter Max Meyer lasted just three innings, allowing two runs on three hits with three walks in a 74-pitch outing. Meyer, who was 9-0 at the end of June, is 0-1 in three starts this month.
