Tyler O’Neill and Coby Mayo hit back-to-back home runs, Leody Taveras belted a pinch-hit homer, and Trevor Rogers put together a strong start from the mound as the Baltimore Orioles beat the visiting Los Angeles Angels 5-2 on Wednesday night.

Rogers (7-7) struck out a season-high nine without walking a hitter and limited Los Angeles to one run and three hits over six innings, plus one batter.

Mayo had two of Baltimore’s six hits.

The Orioles have won back-to-back games since they were blanked in consecutive games by the Philadelphia Phillies on the weekend.

Jose Siri homered for the Angels, who’ve lost seven of their last eight games. Angels starter Reid Detmers (3-8) lasted four innings, giving up three runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Alex Hoppe, acquired from the Seattle Mariners in a trade Monday, made his Orioles debut out of the bullpen. He gave up one hit and allowed an inherited runner to score in two-thirds of an inning.

Rico Garcia, Yennier Cano and Andrew Kitttredge, who worked the ninth and was credited with his fifth save of the year, also pitched in relief for Baltimore in what became a combined four-hitter. The Orioles have won four of their last six games.

O’Neill’s two-run shot in the fourth inning opened the scoring and marked his second long ball in as many days. Mayo followed with a long solo blast, his 15th of the season, to make it 3-0.

Siri’s homer leading off the sixth put the Angels on the board. He hadn’t homered since July 3 and provided the only extra-base hit for his team in the game.

Los Angeles closed within 3-2 on Wade Meckler’s pinch-hit single with two outs in the seventh.

Taveras, pinch hitting for O’Neill with two outs in the bottom of the eighth against Jose Fermin, launched his sixth homer of the season with Gunnar Henderson (1-for-2, 2 runs) aboard.
