Hassani Dotson’s first-half strike proved to be the winner as the Seattle Sounders earned a 3-0 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday night in Foxborough, Mass.
Dejan Joveljic and Paul Arriola also scored for Seattle (11-9-8, 41 points), which won its fourth straight match and extended its unbeaten streak to nine games (4-0-5).
Goalkeeper Andrew Thomas made five saves for the Sounders, who improved to 6-5-5 in 16 all-time matches against New England.
New England (14-10-4, 46 points) has dropped back-to-back matches after its three-match winning streak was snapped in a 3-0 loss at Real Salt Lake on Sept. 26.
Matt Turner made two saves for the Revolution, which lost to Seattle at home for the first time since 2011 (4-2-2).
Trailing 1-0, New England had a chance to tie the match in the 67th minute, but Thomas made an excellent diving save on Peyton Miller’s left-footed strike.
Joveljic gave Seattle a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute, lifting his shot over a diving Turner for his third goal of the season.
Arriola and Jesus Ferreira, who entered late in the second half, quickly made an impact. Arriola finished a cross from Ferreira in the 81st minute to extend Seattle’s lead to 3-0.
New England controlled possession in the first half, but Seattle took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Dotson opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a right-footed strike that curled past a diving Turner and into the far side of the net for his third goal of the season.
Luca Langoni had two quality scoring chances for the home side in the opening 45 minutes. In the 14th minute, Thomas saved the Argentine’s left-footed shot from the right side of the box.
In the 33rd minute, Langoni had a chance to tie the score, but Seattle defender Alex Roldan deflected his right-footed strike wide.
Both clubs return to action Wednesday, with Seattle visiting Dallas and New England traveling to Cincinnati.
