Joaquin Niemann, the most successful player in LIV Golf history, confirmed that he has not committed to the league for the 2027 season.
“No, nothing yet,” the 27-year-old from Chile told reporters Sunday after a T21 finish at the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship in England.
Niemann, the captain of LIV Golf team Torque GC, has won a record nine individual tournament titles since joining the circuit in 2022. He won twice on the PGA Tour before making the jump to the rival league.
As LIV Golf moves forward without the financial backing of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, reports have said the league has proposed a 10-event schedule in 2027. Five of the events will have a $9.5 million purse and five will have a $5.5 million purse, per those reports.
Niemann said he couldn’t comment on the league’s current situation.
“I have no idea,” Niemann said. “I mean, I wish to say something, but I have no idea.”
Niemann said that he plans to take the next three months off before returning to action at the Australian Open in Melbourne in early December.
“I’m going to have some time off in Chile, work a little bit on my game, spend some time with the family and get ready for the new season,” Niemann said.
Niemann won the Australian Open in 2023. His best finish to date in a major was a T7 at this summer’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.
