Sergio Garcia, one of the top stars who departed the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in 2022, believes that his current league, which is losing its funding from the Saudi Arabia government, will likely continue in 2027.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund will no longer fund LIV after this season, with reports suggesting the tour might have to pull up stakes before the end of the current schedule.

LIV Golf is seeking around $300 million from investors in order to play a 10-tournament schedule in 2027.

“Obviously, I think they’ve had a lot of meetings with different possible investors,” Garcia said, according to bunkered.co.uk. “I’m 99% sure that LIV is going to continue. It’s just going to look different than it has the last four years. But I’m very, very confident that it’s going to keep going. We’ll see how it develops.”

Amid the uncertainty of LIV’s future, Garcia played in the DP World Tour’s BMW International Open last week in Germany and the native of Spain is expected to play in at least three more DP World Tour events this season.

Garcia also has plans to renew his DP World Tour status for 2027.

“Obviously, at 46, I can’t play 30 events a year, but I’m going to make an effort to see if I can at least play a handful and try to do my best there,” Garcia said.

The 2017 Masters champion, who has top-three finishes in all four major tournaments during his career, owns 38 professional tournament victories, including 11 on the PGA tour, 16 in Europe and two in LIV Golf.

Garcia finished 52nd at this year’s Masters and did not participate in the PGA Championship or the U.S. Open. He did not qualify for this month’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England.
