The NCAA sent the University of Louisville a Notice of Allegations related to men’s basketball violations.
The notice includes one Level I violation, which is tied to the pay-for-play scheme under former head coach Rick Pitino. Pitino declined comment on Monday and said his lawyer would be issuing a statement. There are three Level II violations in the notice.
Pitino was fired after the FBI found that top recruit Brian Bowen’s father arranged for a payment from Adidas to the family.
Pitino, 67, is also named for a secondary violation in the latest Notice of Allegations. He was named head coach at Iona on March 14.
Former Adidas executive James Gatto, former Adidas consultant Merl Code and business manager Christian Dawkins were all found guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud for their roles in the case.
Kansas, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State and Southern Cal also received notices of allegations in connection with the investigation.
Louisville was placed on probation in 2017 for a scandal involving escorts performing for recruits at a campus dormitory. –Field Level Media (@FieldLevelMedia)
