Brooke M. Henderson wiped away the memory of a difficult number of years on tour by winning her national open for the second time.

The Canadian finished with three spectacular rounds of golf to win the CPKC Women’s Open on Sunday in Mississauga, Ontario.

Henderson carded a final round 4-under-par 67 at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club to best Australia’s Minjee Lee by one stroke. The two started the day tied atop the leaderboard.

The Smiths Falls, Ontario native’s only top-10 finish in 2025 was at the T-Mobile Match Play, where she was credited with a T9. She’d been sitting on 13 career wins since January of 2023.

“Yeah, I’ve been waiting for that 14th win, feels like forever,” Henderson said. “To win it here makes it just so special. I had family and friends here and I just thank God for allowing me to be back in this position and allowing me to have the courage and the strength to perform here.”

Japan’s Mao Saigo (66) and Akie Iwai (69) finished at 11 under and 10 under, respectively, and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko (67) and Belgium’s Manon De Roey (68) tied for fifth place at 9 under.

But the round had a match-play feel, as none of the pursuers reached 11 under and Henderson and Lee never dropped below that mark. Lee never led on the final day, but the two were tied at 13 under after recording birdies at No. 13. Henderson then birdied the par-3 14th hole to take the lead for good, as the competitors matched each other with three pars and one birdie (No. 17) down the stretch.

Lee did tie Henderson for a moment, when she poured in a birdie putt at the par-4 17th, but Henderson matched her rival, dropping a 12-footer to re-take the lead.

Henderson, who has a pair of major championships on her resume, also won the Canadian Women’s Open in 2018 when it was played in Regina, Saskatchewan.

“I’m surprised I’m not crying because I definitely thought I was going to during this interview,” Henderson said. “My family support and everything and Canada has been so supportive of me as well. I feel like Canada needed a win this year, so I’m really happy to bring them one.”

Saigo’s bogey-free 66 was the round of the day and saw all five of her birdies come on the back nine.

“I was swing pretty good and feeling good about off the tee,” Saigo said, “so that’s what I’m trying to do next few tournaments or so.”
