Evian Championship boosts prize money to $8M

Celine Boutier

The Amundi Evian Championship increased its prize money total to $8 million, with the winner of the major pocketing $1.2 million, the LPGA announced Thursday.

The prize money has risen more than 146 percent since the tournament received a major designation in 2013. The winner received $1 million in both 2022 and 2023.

“This latest announcement from Amundi and Evian illustrates their ongoing commitment and passion for empowering the world’s best professional golfers through this championship,” LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan said. “Since its inception 30 years ago, The Amundi Evian Championship has been a leader in advancing women’s golf and women’s sports on a global stage, providing a marquee platform for our athletes to inspire generations of young girls.

“We are grateful for this support of our athletes as this great championship continues to grow, delivering one of the most exciting weeks in women’s sports for fans around the world. We can’t wait to tee it up in July.”

Fan favorite Celine Boutier captured her first major championship with a six-stroke victory last year at the tournament in Evian-les-Bains, France. The total purse for that event was $6.5 million.

This year’s tournament runs from July 11-14.
