It didn’t take long for Lexi Thompson to make her return to the LPGA Tour after announcing her retirement from full-time competition last year.
Thompson, 29, will compete in the Founders Cup next week in Bradenton, Fla., according to the field list for the tournament.
Thompson qualified because she ranked 50th in last season’s CME points list. When she announced last summer that it would be her last season competing full-time on tour, she did not say how often she would compete going forward.
Another possibility may be the Chevron Championship, the first major championship of the season, for which she is also qualified as a past winner.
The Founders Cup had been played in May in New Jersey in recent seasons, but it has moved to a new location and spot on the schedule. Bradenton Country Club will host it this year, and it marks the second tournament on the schedule. The LPGA season began Thursday with the start of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in nearby Orlando.
Rose Zhang won the 2024 Founders Cup but will not defend her title next week as she returns to Stanford for her new semester.
