When the new world golf rankings are released Monday, Phil Mickelson will be outside the top 50 for the first time since November 1993.

Mickelson entered the WGC-HSBC Champions in China this week ranked No. 50. But his tie for 28th place there, combined with Shugo Imahira’s runner-up finish at the Mynavi ABC Championship on the Japan Tour, will drop Mickelson to No. 51.

Mickelson’s streak of 1,353 weeks began at age 23, with Nick Faldo then No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. The streak is more than seven years longer than that of Ernie Els, who was ranked for 965 weeks.

Rory McIlroy, at 598 weeks, now holds the top streak, Golf Channel reported.

McIlroy would need to maintain the streak for almost 15 more years to reach Mickelson’s mark.

Mickelson, 49, has slumped since winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February. In China this week, he told reporters he’s lost his concentration.

“I just haven’t played well. Just had a lot of stuff going on, and I just haven’t been really focused and into the mental side,” Mickelson said. “I haven’t seen good, clear pictures. I haven’t been as committed and as connected to the target. I just haven’t been mentally as sharp the last six, eight months.”

Remaining at No. 1 in the world is Brooks Koepka, followed by McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm.

Rahm, who turns 25 next week, was born one year after Mickelson entered the top 50 following the end of the Casio World Open on Nov. 28, 1993.
