Major League Baseball and the players union agreed to extend the administrative leave of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer another week through Aug. 20, multiple media outlets reported Friday.
It is the fifth extension for Bauer, who has been accused of sexual assault by a Southern California woman. Bauer initially was placed on seven-day administrative leave on July 2 and continues to be paid. The 30-year-old is in the first season of a three-year, $102 million deal.
A civil hearing regarding the restraining order against Bauer is scheduled for Monday.
Bauer has denied the allegations made by the 27-year-old woman, who has accused him of choking her until she lost consciousness. She also alleges Bauer punched her in the face during sex, causing head injuries and “facial trauma.”
The woman alleged the assaults occurred April 21 and May 16 at Bauer’s home in Pasadena, Calif.
Bauer made his last appearance for the Dodgers on June 28 in a 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. He is 8-5 on the season with a 2.59 ERA in 17 starts.
