Soderstrom hit a leadoff homer to left in the top of the eighth to tie the score at 4. It was his seventh blast of the season.

Armando Alvarez drew a one-out walk off Ryan Thompson (3-3) and Gelof followed with a triple into the gap in right-center. Max Schuemann followed with a one-hopper that scored Gelof and gave the Athletics a 6-4 lead.

Oakland sealed the win in the ninth when Rooker and Langeliers hit back-to-back homers off Brandon Hughes and Carmeon went deep one out later. It was the 15th shot of the season for both Rooker and Langeliers and the third for Cameron.

The Diamondbacks scored twice in the first inning on Gurriel’s RBI single and Randal Grichuk’s run-scoring double.

Oakland knotted the score in the third inning. Gelof and Miguel Andujar reached via walks and Rooker and Langeliers followed with run-scoring singles.

The Athletics took a 3-2 lead in the fourth when Schuemann hit a sacrifice fly to score Alvarez.

Gurriel led off the bottom of the sixth with a booming homer to left off JP Sears. It was his 11th blast of the season.

Marte’s run-scoring single gave Arizona a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh.

Sears allowed three runs and five hits over six innings. He struck out six and walked one.
