The Houston Astros dealt right-hander Brandon Bielak to the Oakland Athletics on Thursday for cash considerations.
He was designated for assignment on Saturday to make room for right-hander Cristian Javier on Houston’s active roster.
Bielak, 28, had no decisions and a 5.71 ERA in 10 relief appearances this season. He struck out nine but walked seven and allowed three homers in 17 1/3 innings.
He owns an 11-13 career record with one save and a 4.65 ERA in 70 games (21 starts) since making his debut with the Astros in 2020.
