The Houston Astros traded right-handed pitcher Joel Kuhnel to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday for cash considerations.
Kuhnel had been designated for assignment by Houston on Tuesday, a move that made room for center fielder Joey Loperfido on the 40-man roster.
In one relief appearance with the Astros this season, Kuhnel was rocked for four runs on four hits in two innings.
Kuhnel, 29, is in his fifth major league season. He has gone 4-3 while posting a 6.30 ERA in 77 career appearances out of the bullpen with the Cincinnati Reds (2019-20, 2022-23) and Astros (2023-24).
