Blue Jays rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage departed before the bottom of the third inning with an undisclosed injury against the host Houston Astros on Tuesday night.

Yesavage took the mound to warm up for the bottom of the third before Toronto manager John Schneider and Blue Jays medical personnel joined him on the mound. Following a brief consultation, Yesavage returned to the dugout.

Blue Jays reliever Chad Dallas replaced Yesavage, who walked one batter and worked two scoreless innings in his 18th start of the season.

Yesavage, 23, entered Tuesday with a 5-5 record, 3.73 ERA, 45 walks and 91 strikeouts in 91 2/3 innings over 17 games.

Toronto selected Yesavage in the first round (20th overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft out of East Carolina.

He went 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA, seven walks and 16 strikeouts in 14 innings in three regular-season games in 2025, then went 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA, 11 walks and 39 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over six games (five starts) as the Blue Jays won the American League Championship and fell in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
