The Milwaukee Brewers activated first baseman Rowdy Tellez from the 10-day injured list on Saturday.
Tellez, 28, was in the lineup as the designated hitter and batted sixth in Saturday’s game at Texas, his first appearance since July 4.
Tellez originally went on the IL on July 5 with right forearm inflammation, but on July 15 he injured his left ring finger while shagging fly balls in Cincinnati.
His finger got stuck in the padding of the center-field wall at Great American Ball Park, tearing off his fingernail and requiring surgery. He received 17 stitches to repair a fracture on the end of the digit.
Tellez is batting .213 with 12 homers and 36 RBIs in 79 games this season. He is a career .233 hitter with 91 homers and 252 RBIs in 507 career games with the Toronto Blue Jays (2018-21) and Brewers.
The Brewers optioned infielder Abraham Toro to Triple-A Nashville to make room for Tellez on the 26-man roster.
Toro, 26, appeared in nine games for Milwaukee and batted .444 (8-for-18) with two home runs and nine RBIs.
