Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick will undergo an MRI on his left hip Saturday after he crashed into a wall in foul territory during Friday’s 8-4 victory over the New York Mets.
Frelick left Friday’s game in the third inning. His injury comes days before the Brewers open their wild-card playoff series on Tuesday.
A versatile defender, Frelick started at least 21 games at all three outfield positions this season, spending 87 games as a starter in right field. The 24-year-old is batting .259 with two home runs, 32 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 145 games overall.
In two seasons and 202 career games with the Brewers, Frelick is a .255 hitter with five home runs, 56 RBIs and 25 steals.
