Christian Yelich, David Hamilton, Jake Bauers and Luis Lara hit home runs for the host Milwaukee Brewers, who tied a franchise record for runs in a game in a 22-0 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

The Brewers also tied a modern-day record in MLB for the largest margin of victory in a shutout.

Yelich’s three-run homer with two outs in the fifth capped off the first big inning for Milwaukee. Hamilton, who went 3-for-5 with a career-high four RBIs, matched Yelich’s feat an inning later. Bauers followed up with a two-run shot later in the frame.

It was the biggest explosion since the Brewers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 22-2 on Aug. 28, 1992.

Kyle Harrison (10-3) shined on the mound for the Brewers, punching out eight in five shutout innings. He gave up two hits and walked two.

Seattle’s Bryce Miller (4-7) took a fifth loss in his last seven starts. Miller had a stretch of nine straight retired in the middle of his outing but struggled on either side of that, giving up seven hits and six runs (five earned) in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.

Brendan Donovan and Dominic Canzone each had a double for the Mariners, who only mustered five hits as an offense.

Bauers doubled with two outs in the first and manufactured the game’s first run with a head’s up baserunning play.

The throw from Randy Arozarena after a Contreras single into left field beat Bauers to the plate, but the ball was knocked out of catcher Cal Raleigh’s glove as he reached to make the tag and Bauers won the ensuing foot race to touch home. Raleigh was credited with an error on the play.

With one out in the fifth, Milwaukee executed a double steal with Hamilton and Bryce Turang. It immediately paid off later in the at-bat when Hamilton scored from third on a Jackson Chourio RBI single to center.

After Bauers drew a walk to load the bases, Contreras’s liner to left was deep enough for Turang to score on a sacrifice fly. Yelich then ended Miller’s night with a 396-yard blast to right-center.

Hamilton and Bauers’ homers in the sixth came off reliever Josh Simpson.

Hamilton added on with an RBI single in the seventh before Joey Ortiz came home to score after errors by Nick Davila and Josh Naylor.

Position player Leo Rivas took the ball for the Mariners in the eighth, allowing nine runs (seven earned) to take the Brewers to their historic margin of victory. The final onslaught included Lara’s first career home run.
