Bryson Stott hit a three-run home run and Ranger Suarez tossed seven strong innings as the visiting Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Wednesday.

Suarez (6-1) allowed one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Orion Kerkering pitched a scoreless inning and Matt Strahm recorded his fourth save despite allowing a run in the ninth.

Alec Bohm had three hits and Stott added a single for Philadelphia, which has won six of its last seven.

Connor Norby hit a solo homer and Eric Wagaman had two hits for Miami, which threatened to tie the game in the ninth. Heriberto Hernandez began the inning with a double and scored on Dane Myers’ one-out single.

Strahm struck out Norby before Jack Winkler singled for his first major league hit. Strahm escaped the jam when Nick Fortes hit a deep fly ball to right field that Nick Castellanos caught at the wall.

Miami starter Adam Mazur (0-1) began the game by pitching three scoreless innings in his team debut and his first major league appearance of the season.

Philadelphia broke through with four runs in the fourth. With two runners on and one out, J.T. Realmuto delivered an RBI single ahead of Stott’s three-run shot.

Stott’s 396-foot homer was his fifth homer of the season and first since May 17. He entered the game batting .135 (7-for-52) in 15 games this month.

Suarez allowed just his third homer of the season in the fifth inning, when Norby deposited a 2-1 cutter over the center field wall.

Mazur was replaced by Lake Bachar with two on and two outs in the sixth. Bachar walked Trea Turner to load the bases before Kyle Schwarber flied out to left field.

Mazur gave up four runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out five while throwing 97 pitches.

Suarez improved to 6-1 with a 1.17 ERA over his last eight starts for Philadelphia, which has opened the four-game series by winning two of the first three.

Castellanos went 2-for-5 with a run scored after being benched for Tuesday’s game for making an “inappropriate” comment to manager Rob Thomson during the series opener.
