The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled right-hander Scott McGough on Friday after right-hander Slade Cecconi was optioned to Triple-A Reno late Thursday.
McGough, 34, is 1-3 with a 7.33 ERA in 22 appearances (two starts) for the Diamondbacks this season. In 91 career appearances (three starts) over three seasons, McGough is 3-10 with a 5.71 ERA for the Miami Marlins (2015) and D-backs. He also pitched in Japan for four seasons (2019-22).
Cecconi, 25, was 2-7 with a 6.14 ERA in 17 appearances (13 starts) this season. Since making his major league debut with Arizona last season, he is 2-7 with a 5.65 ERA in 24 appearances (17 starts).
