Eugenio Suarez hit a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning and three Arizona pitchers combined on a one-hitter, leading the Diamondbacks to a 1-0 win over the host Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday.

Diamondbacks starter Ryne Nelson threw six innings, permitting just Tommy Pham’s triple in the second inning. He walked two and struck out four.

Anthony DeSclafani (1-1) followed with four sharp innings, striking out three and walking two. Kevin Ginkel pitched a perfect bottom of the 11th for his third save.

Pittsburgh reliever Braxton Ashcraft (2-1) pitched a 1-2-3 10th inning but ran into trouble in the 11th when he walked Ketel Marte, putting runners on first and second with no outs. After automatic runner Corbin Carroll advanced to third on Geraldo Perdomo’s flyout, Carroll came home on Suarez’s sac fly to right.

The Pirates, who left nine runners on base, put a runner at third with one out in the 11th when pinch runner Liover Peguero moved within 90 feet of the plate on Andrew McCutchen’s fly ball to deep center.

Bryan Reynolds sliced a fly ball to left, but Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who led the Diamondbacks with two hits, made a diving catch to keep Peguero at third. Nick Gonzales then grounded out to third and was retired on a close play at first, which was upheld after a Pirates challenge.

Pittsburgh had a three-game winning streak snapped while Arizona halted a three-game skid.

Pham recorded the lone hit for Pittsburgh off Nelson when he produced his first triple of the season with two outs in the second. However, Ke’Bryan Hayes lined out to Marte at second to end the inning.

Pittsburgh starter Mike Burrows retired the first 10 batters he faced and threw six shutout innings, yielding three hits and one walk while striking out five.

Arizona had runners on second and third with two outs in the fifth and seventh innings but could not score.

Pittsburgh fell to 5-5 in extra-inning games this season. The Diamondbacks improved to 4-7 when going to extra frames.
