The Arizona Diamondbacks selected the contract of catcher Aramis Garcia from Triple-A Reno on Saturday, while right-hander Cristian Mena was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Garcia appeared in 47 games for the Cincinnati Reds in 2022, with one home run and four RBIs with a .213/.248/.259 batting line. In five seasons with four different clubs, Garcia is a career .211 hitter with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in 119 games.
Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno left Friday’s game with a right hand injury.
Mena, 22, was 1-0 and did not allow a run in two outings for Arizona this season.
The Diamondbacks also added right-hander Christian Montes De Oca as the 27 th man for Saturday’s schedule that includes the completion of a suspended game as well as the regularly-scheduled game against the Cincinnati Reds. Montes De Oca has not appeared in a major league game.
