Josh Naylor drove in Geraldo Perdomo from third base with a chopping ground ball to first to cap a five-run ninth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied for an 8-7 victory over the San Diego Padres in Phoenix on Saturday.

Pavin Smith, Gabriel Moreno and Alek Thomas singled to open the ninth off Padres’ closer Robert Suarez (1-2), who entered in a non-save situation.

After Corbin Carroll struck out, Ketel Marte beat out an infield single to shortstop on a play that was changed on a video review to make it 7-4. Perdomo, who had two hits, tripled into the right-field corner to drive in three, bringing up Naylor.

Naylor beat the Mariners with a walk-off grand slam in an 8-4, 11-inning victory over Seattle in the first game of the homestand Monday.

Eugenio Suarez had a three-run homer for the D-backs, who have won five in a row.

Gavin Sheets had three hits including a homer, and Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado each had two-run hits in a four-run San Diego seventh for a 5-3 lead, and the Padres tacked on two runs in their ninth for what appeared to be a safe cushion.

Kevin Ginkel (1-3) gave up two runs, one earned, in the ninth.

The Padres have lost four of five.

Arizona starter Zac Gallen gave up six hits and was charged with four runs in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked four. He leads the NL with 40 walks.

Jake Cronenworth singled and Elias Diaz drew a one-out walk to load the bases in the seventh before Ryan Thompson replaced Gallen. Tatis grounded a two-run single to left to tie it at 3-3 and Machado’s two-out double made it 5-3.

Padres starter Ryan Bergert gave up three runs on three hits and two walks in five innings in his third start while taking the place of Michael King in the rotation. He struck out eight.

Sheets’ homer in the second for a 1-0 lead was the 15th homer Gallen has allowed this season, one short of the league high.

Bergert retired 10 of the first 11 he faced before walking Perdomo with one out in the fourth. Naylor singled to center and Suarez hit a 3-1 pitch 410 feet into the left field seats for the 3-1 lead.

Suarez has 20 homers, tied with teammate Corbin Carroll for second in the NL.
