The Los Angeles Dodgers activated reliever Evan Phillips (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list before Friday’s home game against the Colorado Rockies.
The team also designated right-handed reliever Elieser Hernandez for assignment
Phillips is expected to immediately step back into his role as the closer, having already compiled an ERA of 0.66 through 14 appearances (13 2/3 innings) this season, striking out 17 hitters and collecting eight saves.
A 29-year-old right-hander, Phillips emerged last season as the go-to closer, racking up 24 saves in 62 games (61 1/3 innings) with 66 strikeouts.
Hernandez was 0-1 with an 8.38 ERA in five appearances (one start) this season.
