The Los Angeles Dodgers placed infielder Hyeseong Kim on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday due to left shoulder bursitis.
In a corresponding move, the Dodgers selected the contract of shortstop Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City in his first call-up to the majors.
Kim, 26, played on Monday and went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt in the Dodgers’ 5-2 road win over the Cincinnati Reds. He is batting .304 with two home runs, 15 RBIs, 12 stolen bases in 12 attempts and a .338 on-base percentage in 58 games.
He has played mostly second base (38 games, 27 starts) with 16 games in center field (nine starts) and eight at shortstop (three starts).
Los Angeles signed Kim in January after he played eight years in the Korean Baseball League.
Freeland, 23, was a third-round pick by the Dodgers in 2022. He was batting .253 with 12 home runs and 71 RBIs in 94 games with Oklahoma City.
