Max Muncy hit a game-ending single in the 10th inning, Blake Snell gave up one run over six innings with 10 strikeouts in his return from an elbow injury and the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a 5-4 victory over the visiting Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

Mookie Betts hit a home run and added a game-tying RBI single in the eighth inning as the Dodgers won consecutive games for the first time since July 29-30. Los Angeles’ Alex Call and Teoscar Hernandez each had an RBI double.

Snell made his second start of the season. The left-hander opened the campaign on the injured list due to shoulder fatigue, then went on the IL again in May with loose bodies in his left elbow. He permitted three hits and one walk on Tuesday, making 84 pitches.

Salvador Perez had two RBIs for the Royals, and Jac Caglianone had an RBI single and a run in the eighth inning as Kansas City took a late one-run lead.

Michael Wacha allowed three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings as the Royals dropped to 3-9 since July 30. The right-hander struck out five without issuing a walk.

The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Betts’ 14th home run of the season and first in 19 games.

Snell cruised through a perfect three innings at the outset before the Royals broke through in the fourth on Perez’s sacrifice fly to score Bobby Witt Jr. for a 1-1 tie.

Los Angeles moved in front in the seventh when Betts doubled with one out, moved to third on a fly ball and scored on a two-out double from Call. Hernandez followed with a pinch-hit double for a 3-1 advantage.

The Royals responded in the eighth with RBI singles from Caglianone and Perez. Caglianone then put Kansas City on top 4-3 when he scored from second base after Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages made a catch for an out and dropped the ball on the transfer.

Betts tied it 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single.

Muncy’s game-ending hit came against Lucas Erceg (4-4).

Seth Halvorsen (1-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning in his Dodgers debut after he was acquired in a trade with the Colorado Rockies last month.
