Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Daniel Hudson is expected to be out for the remainder of the season after he came away with an anterior-cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during Friday’s road game against the Atlanta Braves.
Hudson was placed on the injured list Saturday, with right-hander Mitch White recalled to start against the Braves after left-hander Andrew Heaney (shoulder) was placed on the IL on Friday.
The Dodgers also activated infielder Hanser Alberto from the paternity list, while outfielder Stefen Romero was designated for assignment.
Hudson, 35, was 2-3 with a 2.22 ERA in 25 outings for the Dodgers this season, pitching in key late-inning situations. Hudson was trying to change directions to field a slow ground ball from Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna Jr. during Friday’s 4-1 victory when he collapsed to the ground in front of the mound.
In 13 major league seasons, Hudson is 59-43 with a 3.81 ERA in 479 appearances (61 starts) for the Chicago White Sox (2009-10), Arizona Diamondbacks (2010-16), Pittsburgh Pirates (2017), Dodgers (2018, 2022), Toronto Blue Jays (2019), Washington Nationals (2019-21) and San Diego Padres (2021).
White, 29, was called up to the Dodgers for the second time. He is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA over nine outings (four starts). Alberto, 29, is batting .242 with one home run and four RBIs. Romero, 33, who was called up to the Dodgers on Wednesday, did not see action in his first trip to the major leagues since 2016. He has pitched in Japan in the interim.
