Tyler Glasnow held the Detroit Tigers to one run and two hits in seven innings as the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers pulled away to a 6-1 win on Sunday afternoon.
Glasnow (4-0) struck out six in his ninth start of the season. Teoscar Hernandez hit a two-run home run and scored twice while reaching base three times, and Freddie Freeman reached base four times and scored three runs.
Los Angeles, which begins a nine-game homestand on Tuesday, had lost four of its previous five games but took two of three in Detroit.
Detroit starter Framber Valdez (8-10) gave up three runs and six hits in six innings while striking out five. Kevin McGonigle drove in the lone run for the Tigers, who have lost nine of their last 11 games. The Tigers begin a seven-game road trip on Monday.
The Dodgers had runners in scoring position in the second but Valdez responded by striking out Kyle Tucker and Enrique Hernandez.
Los Angeles was able to push across a run in the fourth. With one out, Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez had back-to-back singles. Miguel Rojas brought home Freeman with a sacrifice fly.
Detroit tied it in the bottom of the inning. Gleyber Torres led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. One out later, McGonigle slashed a single to left to knock in Torres.
The Dodgers took a 3-1 lead in the sixth. Freeman ripped a one-out double before Teoscar Hernandez lifted a Valdez changeup an estimated 434 feet for his 12th homer of the season.
Los Angeles made it 6-1 in the eighth.
Mookie Betts had a one-out double off Tanner Rainey. Freeman drew a walk and an error on catcher Dillon Dingler during a pickoff attempt allowed both runners to move up. Rainey then hit Teoscar Hernandez with a pitch to load the bases.
A wild pitch by Rainey allowed Betts to score, and pinch hitter Max Muncy’s single brought home Freeman for a 5-1 Dodgers lead. Another Rainey wild pitch allowed Hernandez to score.
