The San Francisco Giants placed left-hander Robbie Ray on the injured list Tuesday with a left hamstring strain and recalled right-hander Landen Roupp from Triple-A Sacramento.
Ray, 32, was removed from Sunday’s road start against the Seattle Mariners in the fourth inning during an at-bat against Justin Turner.
In his first season with San Francisco, Ray is 3-2 with a 4.70 ERA in seven starts.
The 11-year veteran was an All-Star in 2017, when he went 15-5 with a 2.89 ERA for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2021 with the Toronto Blue Jays when he went 13-7 with a 2.84 ERA and 248 strikeouts.
Roupp, 25, made his major league debut March 29 and is 0-0 with a 4.70 ERA in 15 relief appearances for the Giants this season.
