The Cleveland Guardians added some right-handed pop to their lineup with the addition of outfielder Jo Adell in a trade Monday with the Los Angeles Angels.
The Angels received catcher prospect Jacob Cozart as the return piece in the trade-deadline deal.
Adell, selected 10th overall by Los Angeles in the 2017 MLB Draft, has blossomed over the last three seasons at the major league level. He ranked fourth in the American League with 37 home runs in 2025 and has 16 homers in 111 games this season.
Adell, 27, is also hitting .239, his best average in a full season. There is some swing-and-miss in his game, however, as he has accompanied his 73 homers over the last three seasons with 385 strikeouts in the same span.
Cozart, 23, ranks as the No. 18 prospect in the Guardians’ organization, per MLB Pipeline. The 2024 second-round pick is hitting .239 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs in 79 games this season for Double-A Akron.
