jazz yankees

Gleyber Torres hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the 12th inning, Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit two more home runs and the New York Yankees defeated the host Philadelphia Phillies, 7-6, on Tuesday.

Aaron Judge added three hits and Anthony Volpe had two hits for the Yankees, who won their fourth game in a row.

Chisholm finished with five RBIs and has four home runs over his last two games with New York, who acquired him from the Miami Marlins on Saturday.

Gerrit Cole was scratched as the Yankees’ starter because of what the team called “general body fatigue” and replaced with Will Warren, who made his major league debut.

Warren allowed four hits and four runs with six strikeouts and two walks over 5 1/3 innings.

Michael Tonkin (4-4) earned the win in relief after tossing the final two frames.

Austin Hays homered, singled and knocked in four runs for the Phillies, who have dropped three straight.

Alec Bohm hit an RBI double and J.T. Realmuto contributed three hits for Philadelphia. Weston Wilson struck out with Bohm on second base to end the game.

Phillies starter Aaron Nola tossed 5 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks.Orion Kerkering (2-2) took the loss.

Philadelphia pulled even at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth when Yankees closer Clay Holmes threw a two-out wild pitch that scored Johan Rojas from third.

The Phillies trailed 5-4 entering the ninth after Chisholm ripped a three-run homer off Matt Strahm in the seventh. Chisholm hit a solo home run against Nola to lead off the sixth, which put New York ahead 4-2.

Each team scored once in the 11th. Alex Verdugo delivered a sacrifice fly for the Yankees, while Hays led off the home half with an RBI single.

Chisholm singled to begin the 12th and was thrown out at second trying to advance on Torres’ go-ahead sacrifice fly.

New York outhit Philadelphia 11-9.

The Phillies took a 4-1 lead in the second when Hays lofted a three-run homer to left. It was Hays’ first home run since being traded to Philadelphia on Friday from the Baltimore Orioles.

Hays ended the fifth inning with a diving catch in left field on Austin Wells’ line drive, keeping Philadelphia ahead by three.
