Mariners back gem from Bryan Woo, maul Yankees 10-2

Rookie Bryan Woo took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and the Seattle Mariners hit four home runs, cruising to a 10-2 win over the host New York Yankees to avoid a series sweep on Thursday night.

Woo (1-1) entered the sixth at 81 pitches. He lost his no-hit bid by allowing a single to Gleyber Torres on his 92nd pitch and was lifted after allowing a single to Anthony Rizzo.

Kolten Wong, Ty France, Teoscar Hernandez and Cal Raleigh homered off Domingo German (4-5). German was chased in the fourth inning after allowing eight earned runs (10 overall) on eight hits.

Hernandez also had an RBI single and collected three hits.

Eugenio Suarez hit a two-run double in the four-run first and scored when the Yankees committed two errors on the same play. Mike Ford and Jose Caballero lifted sacrifice flies for the Mariners.

Woo entered with a 7.30 ERA. He walked three and struck out five. He has allowed two runs or fewer in his past three starts after allowing six runs in his big league debut June 3.

German was rocked for a second straight start as he allowed a career-high 10 runs on eight hits and 3 1/3 innings. German was booed off the mound the six days after allowing seven runs in two innings in a 15-5 loss at Boston.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a two-run homer in the ninth after pitching in the top half of the inning. The Yankees lost for the ninth time in 15 games since losing Aaron Judge to a bruised right toe

Wong blasted a 2-1 fastball to right field to open the second and France followed by driving a 1-0 fastball to the Seattle bullpen in left-center.

In the third, Suarez scored from first when the Yankees committed two errors on a grounder by Ford to third base. Josh Donaldson bobbled the ball for the first error and German was charged with the second error when the throw caromed off his glove.

Caballero lifted a sacrifice fly before Hernandez and Raleigh hit back-to-back homers in the fourth.
